Assembly

Sew the two ears to the top of the head, spanning from Rnd 2 to Rnd 6. Attach the four legs to the bottom sides of the body so the cat can sit upright. Sew the curved tail securely to the lower back of the body, curving upward.

Finishing

Using white embroidery floss, add small whiskers on each cheek next to the safety eyes. Weave in any remaining loose yarn ends securely inside the body.

Tip: Crochet the ears quite tightly so they hold their pointy triangular shape without needing to be stuffed.

Tips and Common Mistakes

  • Do not overstuff the legs, or the cat will have trouble sitting straight.
  • Make sure to place safety eyes before closing the head, as you cannot add them securely afterward.
  • Count your stitches at the end of every round to ensure proper shaping.
  • Keep your tension even when transitioning from the head to the body.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a different yarn weight for this project?
Yes, you can use any yarn weight you prefer, just be sure to use a hook size smaller than recommended on the yarn label to keep the stitches tight and prevent stuffing from showing. Keep in mind that changing the yarn weight will alter the final size.

Are safety eyes safe for young children?
Safety eyes are not recommended for toys given to children under the age of three. For a baby-safe alternative, embroider the eyes using black embroidery floss with French knots.

How do I keep my spiral rounds from shifting?
Shifting is normal in amigurumi spirals due to the twist of the yarn. Using a stitch marker in the very first stitch of every round will keep you oriented correctly.
