Star – White, make 3
Rnd 1: 5 sc in a magic ring, sl st to join in first sc (5)
Rnd 2: (Ch 4, starting in 2nd ch from hook: 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, skip 1 st on ring, sl st into next st) x 5
Fasten off, leave a 20 cm tail for sewing.
Assembly
Place the two crescent moon panels together, matching all edges. Join golden-yellow yarn through both layers at one tip. Working through both thicknesses, sc evenly all the way around the outer and inner curves of the moon to join them together. When you are about three-quarters of the way around, stuff firmly with polyfill. Complete the remaining sc around the edge to close. Fasten off and weave in all yarn ends.
Position the three white stars along the lower curve or floating just beneath the crescent moon. Secure them firmly with whip stitches using the yarn tails.
Finishing
Attach a loop of thin white thread or invisible thread to the top tip of the crescent moon for hanging. Check all seams to ensure no stuffing is escaping.
Tips and Common Mistakes
- Make sure to count your decrease rows carefully to ensure both moon panels match in size.
- Do not over-stuff the moon, or the inner curve will warp and lose its crescent shape.
- Maintain even tension when joining the two panels so the edge does not pull or pucker.
- Secure star tails tightly on the back side to prevent them from slipping loose.

How do I make the stars look sharper?
Block the finished stars slightly with a damp cloth or steam them gently before sewing them to the mobile.
Can I hang these outdoors?
This pattern is designed for indoor use with cotton yarn, which may fade or absorb moisture if left outside.
