Quick Facts

Skill levelFinished sizeYarnHookTime
Beginner3 ft / 90 cm longDK cotton (Cat. 3)3.5 mm (US E/4)1.5 hours

Materials You Will Need

  • DK weight cotton yarn in White (15 grams, 35 metres), Orange (15 grams, 35 metres), and Yellow (20 grams, 45 metres)
  • 3.5 mm (US E/4) crochet hook
  • Small amount of polyester fiberfill stuffing
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors
  • Stitch marker

Gauge

Working tightly is more important than exact gauge for amigurumi. The base of each candy corn measures about 2.5 cm across after Round 2.

Abbreviations (US Terms)

  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet
  • inc = single crochet increase (work 2 sc in the same stitch)
  • dec = invisible decrease (insert hook into front loops of next 2 stitches, yarn over, pull through both, yarn over, pull through remaining 2 loops)
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • st = stitch
  • rnd = round
  • BLO = back loop only

UK terms: sc = dc, hdc = htr, dc = tr.

Pattern Notes

  • All pieces are worked in continuous spirals without joining rounds unless stated otherwise. Use a stitch marker to keep track of the first stitch of each round.
  • The stitch count at the end of every round is shown in brackets.
  • Make 6 individual candy corn pieces to space evenly along your garland cord.

Garland Cord – Yellow, make 1

Ch 160.
Fasten off and weave in the starting tail.

Assembly

Thread the yarn tails of each finished candy corn and tie them securely to the garland cord at regular intervals of approximately 12 cm, leaving a 15 cm hanging loop at each end of the cord.

Finishing

Weave in all remaining loose yarn ends securely inside the candy corn pieces and trim the excess. Hang your finished garland across a mantelpiece, wall, or doorway.

Tip: Keep your tension firm and consistent while working the color changes to prevent stuffing from showing through the stitches.

Tips and Common Mistakes

  • Do not overstuff the candy corn; they should hold their triangular shape without stretching the stitches.
  • Change colors cleanly on the last pull-through of the final stitch of the previous round.
  • Count your stitches at the end of every round to ensure the shape tapers correctly.
  • Tie the candy corn securely to the hanging cord so they do not slide around once hung.
